3 Major Signs You Need A New Roof

In our day to day life, most of us don’t tend to look up and examine our roofs. But the roof plays a major role in protecting your home. Not only does a nice roof give your home greater value and curb appeal, but it also protects the interior and framing of your home. It insulates your home from rain, wind, heat, and protects your home from getting destroyed by damaging weather.

If we ignore checking the status of our roof for years, it could cause a huge dent in our wallet later down the road. According to the National Roofing Contractors Association, you should inspect your roof at least 2 times per year.

Below are 3 major signs that you may need a new roof:

  1. Leaking & Water Damage

If you have water dripping through your ceiling, it is very obvious that you have a major leak in your roof. But some leakage is not that obvious. You need to check if you have any dark water spots on the top of your roof. If so, you will need to go inside of your attic and see if you have any leaks going through to your attic. If you go into the attic during the day, check to see if you see any light shining through. That is a tell-tale sign that you need to call a roofing company before it gets worse.

2. Major Storm Damage

In the south, major storms come almost every single year. A storm can cause roof damage by blowing off and cracking shingles and tiles. Major signs of storm damage to look out for are having missing pieces of asphalt, dents in your shingles, and cracking in your shingles. Many insurance companies will pay for your roof replacement if you have signs of storm damage. Give us a call and one of our representatives can come inspect your home to see if you have insurable damage.

3. An Aging Roof

Some aging is obvious like if your roof is more than 15 years old– it is time to get a new roof. But sometimes the roof can age due to color from the sun, and even accumulation of algae. Check to see if your roof has any oxidation from the sun, if it has a significant amount of algae, and/or if there is evidence of granules coming down the gutter. If you see any of these signs, it is time to call a roofing company.

Your roof is the most important part of your home. Do you have one (or maybe all) of these signs on your own roof? It’s time to schedule an inspection with a professional.
